Under its constitution the Trust is mandated to identify areas where discrimination arises and to promote existing and future initiatives to tackle it. In order to fulfill this obligation the Trust highlights areas of particular concern where action is needed to tackle discriminatory behaviour, attitudes and policies.
The Trust uses a number of methods to highlight areas of concern and campaign for change including the following:
- The Trust produces its own reports, which it circulates to the public, States Members and the media;
- The Trust commissions research from independent experts;
- The Trust responds to public consultations particularly in relation to draft legislation;
- The Trust organises events to stimulate and inform public debate.
Education
The Trust also has an educational role in that it promotes:
- recognition and acceptance of cultural diversity; and
- education in the community about the aim of the Trust.
In support of its educational role the Trust is happy to provide someone to speak to school, college or other groups about the aim and objectives of the Trust and current campaigns.
If you would like someone to come and speak please e-mail us with brief details of the event and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
The Trust will also ensure that all of its reports and guides are available on the website so that they can be used for educational purposes.
