Civil Partnerships and Same Sex Marriages

Legislation

Jersey Law provides for same-sex couples to enter into civil partnerships or marriages.

The Civil Partnership (Jersey) Law 2012 came into effect on 2 April 2012.

The Marriage and Civil Status (Amendment No. 4) (Jersey) Law 2018 providing for same Sex Marriages came into effect on the 1 July 2018.

The Discrimination (Sex and Related Characteristics) (Jersey) Regulations 2015 protecting LGBT and intersex people from discrimination became law on the lst September 2015.

The Community Relations Trust strongly believes the passing of these Laws to be a major step forward and is proud to have played a part in these landmark changes.
