The Jersey Community Relations Trust has announced Selina Zenonos as its new Vice Chair.
Growing up in Jersey as a second-generation immigrant whose family moved to Jersey in the early 60s, Selina’s insight and lived experience are hugely valuable to the Trust. This is particularly true as JCRT embarks on plans to better understand the experience of migrant communities here in Jersey.
Kate Wright, Chair of the JCRT said:
“We are delighted and very grateful to Selina for taking up the role of Vice Chair. Selina has contributed significantly as a trustee, not just in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) space but she understands and is a powerful voice for underrepresented and migrant communities, something that we are expanding our focus and energy on this coming year and beyond with our migrant research and Project Luso – a collaboration aimed at celebrating Portuguese life on the Island.
The JCRT marked 20 years this year and it feels that now, more than ever, our work carries greater responsibility, particularly with shifting political landscapes, more pressure on households due to the cost of living, and a growing sense of fatigue from intolerance and discrimination. With the support of a talented and dedicated board, I am confident we can continue to drive forward a more equitable and inclusive Jersey.”
Selina Zenonos said:
“It is a privilege to take on the role of Vice Chair at the JCRT. My vision is to unite communities by raising awareness of the benefits of diversity. I believe this is only through better education and bridging access to the resources people need. At the JCRT, we want to continue enhancing community engagement and creating an environment where everyone feels they belong and can thrive.
I am looking forward to continuing to work with my fellow trustees and community partners to build a more inclusive community where everyone is visible and has a voice”.
